4 out of 5 stars Windows 7 upgrade from vista   September 7, 2010
Tim Aspinwall (UK)
Upgraded because Vista was not performing well.
Upgrade process was fairly painless (only had to uninstall iTunes as recommended) and took about 90 minutes
PC performance improved
Few things are harder to find or sort out than before but eventually it all becomes second nature.

5 out of 5 stars very easy   September 5, 2010
Mr. J. Long (Bucks. UK.)
I upgraded my Toshiba laptop. First I ran the compatability program downloaded from MS then went to Toshiba website and got the recommended upgrade drivers and programs. I then backed up all my data and removed it too. I left all my programs on. Then I followed the instructions after loading the setup dvd and all was done OK. I only had to re 'pin' icons to the Start Bar or Task bar but that was all apart from the usual numerous updates.

4 out of 5 stars Goodbye Vista   September 4, 2010
Cdr M. G. Hawke (Oban, Scotland)
What a wonderful change to Vista and, so far, Windows 7 looks as good as XP. When I get to know it more it might even be better. If so I suspect I will change this PC to 7 as well.

Delivery was as prompt as ever. Many thanks

I intend to install this but people have told me to keep with my XP?

5 out of 5 stars MS Windows 7   August 20, 2010
P. D. Duffell
MS Windows 7 is a significant improvement on both XP and Vista - much better presentation and easier to use etc. The one 'minor' issue I had was that it took quite a long time to install (like 5 hours!) - as I had to install the latest SP for the o/s I was using. Also I couldn't upgrade to 64 bit as you have to do a complete re-install if you aren't using 64 bit in Vista. You then have to re-install all of your software packages. As I couldn't find all of my software discs/licences I had to stick with 32 bit as I couldn't face turning the house upside down to find them... so aren't yet able to fully benefit from the 64 bit architecture.

This is more of a 'for information' comment. It doesn't detract from Win 7 I'd still thoroughly recomment it, its just forewarned is forearmed and they don't tell you this when you buy the upgrade.

Since installing it has been great - system load/shutdown times are very quick. Thoroughly recomment - at last MS is shipping products that I feel able to endorse!
